Are Belskin products natural, vegan, and safe?

Your skin has already been through enough. Tight, burning products, unfulfilled promises, and that feeling of not knowing what you dare to put on your face anymore. It's only natural then to wonder what exactly is in Belskin.

Short answer: Our formulas are gentle, well-thought-out, and built from ingredients that we know support your skin instead of challenging it. Below, I will calmly answer the questions you likely have, from natural and vegan to safe during pregnancy.

Are Belskin products natural?

Belskin combines gentle ingredients from nature with insights from dermatology.

Our formulas are made up of safe, scientifically proven ingredients that come from both nature and modern dermatology. We only choose substances that have been shown to support your skin barrier—that protective layer that retains moisture and prevents irritation. No harsh acids, no perfume, no irritating oils. If you want to see what our routine consists of, take a look at all products.

Are Belskin products vegan?

Yes, all our formulas are completely free of animal ingredients.

We do not use animal ingredients and always opt for plant-based or synthetic alternatives that are gentle and mild on your skin.

Are Belskin products fragrance-free and non-comedogenic?

Yes, our products contain no fragrance and do not clog your pores.

All our formulas are formulated without fragrance and without ingredients known to clog pores. This makes them suitable for acne-prone, sensitive, and reactive skin.

Are Belskin products dermatologically tested or hypoallergenic?

All our products are carefully developed for sensitive and acne-prone skin.

Our formulas contain active ingredients such as niacinamide, mandelic acid, and azelaic acid. Therefore, they do not fall under the term hypoallergenic, but they are composed of safely substantiated ingredients that support your skin barrier. We avoid substances known to cause irritation, and choose a calm, scientific approach to acne. If your skin reacts extra sensitively, Sofie will gladly provide personal follow-up in the practice.

Are Belskin products safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding?

No, the Renew Serum contains vitamin A derivatives, which are best avoided during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Vitamin A derivatives, including retinol, are not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please do not use these products. If you would like to be guided in this, we can set up a routine together with ingredients that are safe during this period, such as azelaic acid, niacinamide, and hyaluronic acid. If in doubt, consult with Sofie in a personal consultation.

Are Belskin products safe with illness or medication?

Yes, although some extra caution is needed with medication that makes your skin more sensitive.

Our products work externally on your skin barrier and do not react with medication. If you are taking medications that make your skin more sensitive, such as retinoids, corticosteroids, or certain antibiotics, discuss this with your doctor or dermatologist first.

Is there a minimum age to use Belskin?

We recommend Belskin from fourteen years of age.

There is no official minimum age, but we advise against use for those under fourteen.

How long does it take before I see results with Belskin?

Typically, your skin begins to improve after about four weeks.

For most women, the first visible improvement appears after about four weeks, with less redness, fewer inflammations, and fewer subcutaneous bumps. Because we restore your skin barrier rather than working aggressively on it, that result becomes more visible and lasting with consistent use, especially after three months. Curious about real skin stories, check out our results.

Will my skin get worse first when I start with Belskin?

No, our products normally do not cause purging.

Belskin does not work aggressively and therefore normally does not cause purging, an accelerated breakout due to cell renewal. If your skin still reacts, it is usually because your skin barrier is not yet in order. In that case, we will gradually build up your routine together more gently.

Are there Belskin products for scars?

Yes, our Renew Serum focuses on repair and pigment.

The Renew Serum contains retinol and Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate (HPR) in combination with Tranexamic acid. This combination works on PIE (post-inflammatory erythema) and on texture and scars. The formulation is composed in such a way that it works without aggressively approaching the skin and your skin remains beautifully balanced.

Which products should I start with when beginning Belskin?

You start with four basic steps for calm, stable skin.

These four steps are a mild cleanser, an active serum that suits your type of acne, and a light, non-comedogenic moisturizing cream. During the day, you finish with a non-comedogenic SPF. We deliberately keep it simple, because the calmer your skin, the better the result. If you don't know where to start, I'm starting will help you get on your way.

How do I best switch from my current products to Belskin?

Gradually adjust your routine and avoid major changes all at once.

Don't suddenly stop your old routine. Build up gradually and follow the routine we recommend. If your skin reacts sensitively, we will temporarily opt for a slower build-up until your skin is completely stable.

Can I use makeup with Belskin?

Yes, light makeup works perfectly on a Belskin base.

However, choose light, non-comedogenic formulas that do not clog your pores. Belskin forms a gentle base under your makeup. Cleanse thoroughly in the evening so that makeup and sebum do not accumulate in your pores.

Can I combine Belskin with medical treatments?

Yes, though some medications require a slower build-up.

Belskin works well alongside medications such as antibiotics and isotretinoin. Because these treatments can sometimes make your skin more sensitive, it is best to seek personal guidance.

Can I combine Belskin with treatments like LED, Hydrafacial, or chemical peels?

LED fits perfectly with Belskin, strong peels we avoid.

LED, meaning blue and red light, fits perfectly with Belskin. Hydrafacial is possible, but not recommended. We avoid strong peels or treatments that strip your skin, as these weaken your skin barrier and actually worsen hormonal acne. And this approach goes against Belskin's principle of gently treating the skin.

What guidance can I get from Belskin?

You can choose between personal follow-up in the practice with Sofie or online follow-up.

This way, you'll never just be handed a jar. There's always someone who will guide you, at a pace that suits you.
